For the first time in kerala a day as Panchayat Day is being celebrated along with national cebrations on 24th April. Till last year the birth day of Balwant Rai Mehta, February 19th ,was celebrated in Kerala as the Panchayat Day. All the elected Presidents of the three tier system and Grama Panchayat Secretaries would assemble and there will be disccussions on various subjects related to Panchayati raj system. Our respected Chief Minister Shri. Oommen Chandy is inagurating the function on 24th. This year the function is going to be held at the state capital THIRUVANANTHAPURAM.

REDUCTION OF MANDATORY MINIMUM FOR 2011-12
There is a glad news for The three tier Panchayats which have not attained the mandatory minimum of expenditure of Development fund and Maintenance fund fixed for the year 2010-11 ie 70% during the year 2011-12 also. The government have reduced the mandatory minimum for the year 2011-12 to 60% from 70% . Hope the elected reprecentatives and Grama Panchayat Secretaries will be happy with this new order. The order number is .....GO(MS) No. 103/2012LSGD Dated 16-04-2012.
